Unlimited
dreams,
one Krew.

Kianna's Krew opens the door to hockey for Black youth and families across Manitoba with free ice, real mentorship, and a community built on belonging.

The Mission

Building a more accessible path into hockey for the next generation.

Kianna's Krew is a Manitoba-based nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to hockey for Black youth and families. Through free learn-to-play events, mentorship, community programming, and educational resources, we introduce participants to the game, build confidence, and create pathways for long-term involvement.

We serve Black children, youth, and their families across Manitoba — with a focus on making hockey accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for all.

What We Do

Our Programs

  • Free introductory hockey for Black youth ages 5–15 and their families — ice time, equipment access, skating instruction, and games.

  • Connecting youth with athletes, coaches, and community leaders for guidance and encouragement — in hockey and in life.

  • Workshops and Q&A sessions on registration, equipment, financial assistance, and pathways to continued participation.

  • Opportunities to give back through event support, mentorship, and program leadership — creating welcoming experiences for all.

  • Future initiatives to reduce financial barriers — equipment support, registration assistance, and scholarship opportunities.

The Founder

Creating space
for the next generation.

Kianna Saillant grew up in Manitoba, often as one of the only Black faces at the rink. She went on to become a Winnipeg Ice AAA alum and provincial champion, play three years of NCAA hockey, and continue her career as a forward at the University of Waterloo.

But Kianna's Krew is about more than her journey through the game. It is about making that journey feel possible for the Black youth coming after her.

Kianna created the foundation to give young players the representation, mentorship, community, and access she knows can shape how deeply someone believes they belong in hockey.

"I started Kianna's Krew to create a space where Black girls and boys in hockey feel seen, supported, and empowered. I want the next generation to know they belong."
